Welcome to Experience Nicola Valley, with news about the Nicola Valley in BC, Canada
A great destination location! I love living here...
The BC Southern Interior has been my home for most of my life. From the Okanagan Valley, to the Shuswap, then to the beautiful Nicola Valley for the last 35 years.
I have family and friends who jump off cliffs into pristine creek pools, cross country ski on the many paths surrounding our valley, mountain climb nearby, and fish or kayak on our many lakes.
I am happy sitting in my backyard under the plum tree or walking along the Coldwater River. I like to join friends and family at the library and museums, the indoor and outdoor art events, and the all year round live music in the valley.
I moved to the Nicola Valley as a young mom, and have raised a family of three kids here. When the kids were young we participated in everything in town: concerts, extracurricular classes, clubs, camps.
As a BC Teacher, I worked for 30 years at the Coldwater Band School, where we spent time immersed in the 1st Nations culture. We created and participated in arts events with the Merritt and 1st Nations communities in the valley.
Now that I am retired, I am once again very involved in the community. Currently I am the NVCAC Arts Gallery Director and also help to organize weekly Open Mic Nights at the Kekuli Cafe.
My focus is on the arts and culture of the Nicola Valley. We have a lively community of artists, musicians, and a developing interest in the performing and digital arts. From chainsaw carving, to watercolor plein air events, to classical music and jazz concerts, to ballet and Latin dancing, we have something for everyone interested in the arts.
And of course we have country music! And line dancing! We are the Country Music Capital of Canada!
