Halloween Folklore
In Ireland and Great Britain, the first jack-o’-lanterns were turnips or beets. Carved with demonic faces that are lit inside by a candle. At for parties, many games are played, including “snap-apple,” a game in which an apple on a string is tied to a doorframe or tree and players attempt to bite the hanging apple. Firstly, remain safe. Pair up with friends, and younger children with parents or guardians. Secondly, stick to one side of the street, not running across the street to other houses. Thirdly, carry a flashlight or go out before it gets dark. Fourth, try to stick to areas you are familiar with. Wear appropriate clothing, importantly let your parents check your candy haul.
